Week of April 8th
Practice slips for practice time during the week of 3/25 are due Monday, 4/8 (100 minutes.) Any time practicing over Spring Break is extra credit.
Students signed up for electives for next year this week. I want to again put in a “plug†for Orchestra. I know LMS has a lot of great elective offerings, however, continued study in music is very beneficial for students in every way. Students benefit academically, socially, and emotionally from participating in music classes in school. I highly encourage the students to stay with Orchestra!
6th graders have a couple of other extra credit opportunities: Spring Break Bingo and Crack the Code.
7th and 8th graders will perform for 5th grade visits on Wednesday, 4/10. We will perform in the morning and afternoon. Students do not need to wear concert clothing, just regular school clothing is fine.
7th and 8th graders will go to WSU on Friday, 4/12 with the 8th grade Band for a clinic with Dr. Boden and Dr. Pham on our Full Orchestra music. (We did not get to perform this for Large Group Festival, so we are doing this activity in place of that.) If any parents would like to help us transport cellos and basses, please let me know. Parents are welcome to come and listen to the performance; we will be in room 115 of Kimbrough music building. Students received the itinerary and assumption of responsibility forms for this trip this past week.
6th graders have a concert coming up on Thursday, 4/18 in the Main Gym at LMS. This concert will also feature the Elementary Beginning and Advanced Orchestras. Students should be at LMS by 7:00 pm and meet in room 806 for tuning and warm up. Students should wear their concert black and white clothing. It’s going to be a great concert!
Another reminder about the concert date change: the 7th and 8th grade Orchestra concert that was scheduled for May 23rd has been moved to June 4th. Please be sure to make this change on your calendars.
Practice slips for practice time during the week of 3/25 are due Monday, 4/8 (150 minutes.) Any time practicing over Spring Break is extra credit.
Blue Orchestra students received Letter Point sheets this past week. They are due Wednesday, 5/1.
Our end-of-year concert is Wednesday, 5/8 at 7:30 pm the PHS Auditorium. This concert will feature the Gray and Blue Orchestras and we will also honor our Seniors at this concert.
Congratulations to the Gray Orchestra for earning I (Superior) ratings at the SEWMEA Large Ensemble Festival in Washtucna on March 26th! The students played extremely well! A big thank you to Heather Carter and Karine Wacker for chaperoning the trip.← Week of March 25th (Lilian, California, Usa) Good Cost That Satisfies The Product Quality →
